Apple Pie

The apple pie my mom taught me how to bake when I was 3 was very similar to this! I just realised that recipe was vegan, as we use the same vegetable shortening, which also happens to be vegan (made without lard).

Original Recipe HERE (pie crust!)

CRUST

  • 1 1/3 cups All Purpose Flour

  • 1/2 cup Crisco® All-Vegetable Shortening (make sure it has no lard)

  • 3 to 6 tablespoons ice cold water

APPLES

  • 2 large apples

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

  • 2 tbsp sugar

STEP ONE

Stir flour and vegetable shortening in large bowl. Stir in just enough water with fork until dough holds together. Roll into a sheet and transfer to a pie tray.

Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F or 3/4 on a gas oven).

Make the apples! Cut apples into cubes or slices and stir in cinnamon and sugar. Transfer to the pie tray and bake till its golden brown.
