Chocolate Coated Donuts
I had originally planned to bake donuts back in October when I was planning what to bake, but thought it would be too complex. Over the weekend, I met up with one of my friends who is also vegan and she brought me a vegan donut! I tried it and it was so good that I decided to try it out for myself!
Here is the recipe (taken from my friend’s IG account HERE)
1 cup all purpose flour
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup apple sauce
vegan buttermilk (1/2 cup plant milk and 1/2 tbsp apple cider vinegar)
*Preheat oven to 180°C or 350°F. Mix the flour, sugar, baking soda and apple sauce together to form a thick bread-like dough. Make the buttermilk in a separate bowl and then pour into the bowl with the dough. The final consistency will look a little bit like overnight oats. Scoop into a donut try and bake for around 15 minutes! Coat with whatever you want. I used dark melted chocolate with a variety of toppings such as peanuts, goji berries, matcha powder and chia seeds!
