Double Chocolate Donuts

To be honest, this was a little too bitter for my liking but it made a really good dark chocolate donut! It was very moist, fluffy and soft overall and a little hard to remove from the donut tray. However, it looked pretty good on the outside.

ORIGINAL RECIPE HERE

INGREDIENTS:

3/4 cup all purpose flour

1/4 cup cacao powder

1 tsp baking soda

1 tsp baking powder

1/3 cup apple sauce

1/3 cup maple syrup

1/4 cup warm water

1 Tbsp oil

1 1/2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar

1 chocolate bar (FOR GLAZE)

INSTRUCTIONS:

Preheat your oven to 350F or 180C. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour + cacao + baking soda + baking powder and set aside.

In another bowl, mix together the remaining ingredients except for the chocolate bar.

Add your wet mixture to your dry and mix until everything if fully incorporated - but don’t over-mix!

Fill your doughnut pan with the batter, and bake for 15 minutes. While the doughnuts are baking, melt your chocolate bar for the glaze. When you take the doughnuts out of the oven, give them a moment to cool before dipping into the chocolate. (I put them in the fridge to cool for a bit, which made it easier to remove from the pan) Enjoy!
